The Ship

The second of our Signature Class ships, Nieuw Amsterdam, celebrates historic New York City with an inspired design and art collection. While on board, rejuvenate in the tranquil Spa & Salon, play pickleball at sea, or enjoy a tantalizing meal at fine dining restaurants. When you’re in the mood for music, Billboard Onboard fills the room with chart-topping hits.

Our quilting space will be available 24/7*

(except possibly while in Glacier Bay, but I will work to make it available).

Staterooms

At this time, two staterooms are offered to suit your budget. - Ocean View and Inside Stateroom (*see additional information below).  Click on the pictures to see a description.  Queen beds shown in the pictures convert to two twins beds upon request.  Additionally, each room includes a flat-screen TV with interactive menu of programming, such as on-demand movies.  Guests can access ship information, dining options, an onboard activities schedule, shore excursions, and port information through this interactive media console.

* As this is a Collectors' Voyage, at the current time we are limited to booking Ocean View or Inside Staterooms.  Balcony upgrades MAY be available at a later date, but at this point in time, all balconies are reserved for the Cruise Tours.

The Quilting

You have three options:

  1. Beginners Project:    We will work on a smaller Quiltworx project, and teach you how to get started on these beautiful projects.  Kits available. (*additional cost)

  2. The taught project:  For EXPERIENCED QUILTWORX only, Anne will teach a more advanced Quiltworx project, possibly the new 2028 TOM.

  3. Bring your UFO projects - whatever you like!  Projects that you have started in class with Anne, or even hand sewing, knitting ... it's your choice!

Or ... a combination of the above!

FAQs

  • Sewing Machines:  You will need to bring your own – a SMALL one is preferable as you will be sharing a 8ft x 30” table with one other person.  (I use my Featherweight all the time!)

  • Quilt Stores:  YES!  We will provide you with information on quilting stores at our destinations, and directions on how to get there.

  • Party size:  Limited to 20 quilters maximum to ensure that you get personal attention.

  • Kits, patterns and quilting supplies:  If you are doing the beginners project, Anne will mail your kits to you, cut into strips and ready for sub-cutting, with guidance.  For all other projects, you will need to prep at home and bring with you - space for cutting big projects on board is limited.

  • Will you have to be in the quilting room all the time?   Absolutely not!  This is your cruise, your class. If you miss anything in class because you want to go for a swim, spa, or walk around the deck with camera in hand, Anne will go over what you have missed when you are ready.

  • What is included:   There’s no getting away from it – cruising is expensive, and CruisePlus has set up a payment plan. More details are available from our cruise specialist, Fiona.

  • Dining options:  You will not be confined to dining as one big group each evening, particularly if you are bringing a “significant other” (quilters en masse can be quite an intimidating prospect if you don’t know your fat quarters from your add-a-quarters). If some of you wish to dine as a group, tables can be requested on a day-by-day basis.  We all like to eat at different times and in different places.
