The Quilting
You have two options:
-
Bring your UFO projects - either your own, or a paper pieced project that you have started in a previous class or retreat. Get the help and motivation you need to get your project on track and finished.
-
The taught project Anne will select a pattern (or two!) nearer the time. You will learn a variety of techniques, from prepping your papers, deciphering your pattern, and many paper piecing techniques. We have not selected projects yet, as more beautiful patterns will be published nearer the time.
-
Or ... a combination of the above! Even if you are not a beginner, you are welcome to get the kit, and work on that and/or your own project.
FAQs
-
Sewing Machines: You will need to bring your own – a small one is preferable as you will be sharing a 8ft x 30” table with one other person. (I use my Featherweight all the time!)
-
Quilt Stores: YES! There are quilt stores to visit in Juneau, Skagway and Ketchikan! We will provide you with information and maps on how to get there.
-
Party size: Limited to 20 quilters maximum to ensure that you get personal attention.
-
Kits, patterns and quilting supplies: If you order a pattern, it will be sent to you in advance, with instructions on how to cut your papers. If you order a kit, it will be shipped to you in advance. Basic sewing supplies will also be available for purchasing.
-
Will I have to go to ALL the quilting classes?: This is your cruise, your class. If you miss anything in class because you want to go for a swim, spa, or walk around the deck with camera in hand, Anne will go over what you have missed when you are ready.
-
What is included: There’s no getting away from it – cruising is expensive, and CruisePlus has set up a payment plan. More details are available from our cruise specialist, Fiona.
-
7 nights accommodation
-
Coffee / tea / water and cookies in the quilting room
-
Sewing room available 24/7, on the Promenade Deck. The room is locked when not in use.
-
Meals and onboard entertainment (some optional dining choices may incur extra charges)
-
Gratuities
-
-
Dining options: You will not be confined to dining as one big group each evening, particularly if you are bringing a “significant other” (quilters en masse can be quite an intimidating prospect if you don’t know your fat quarters from your add-a-quarters). If some of you wish to dine as a group, tables can be requested on a day-by-day basis. We all like to eat at different times and in different places.
